Introducing Archive Protocol: The New Backbone for APY.vision and Open Standard for Onchain Historical Position Performance Data

The team behind APY Vision has been quietly working very hard behind the scenes on the next generation of on-chain historical position tracking and we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new project, Archive Protocol.

Archive Protocol is a new open platform seeking to establish data standards that provide reliable historical financial data for onchain activities with the aim of supporting all chains and protocols.

Imagine a world where you can easily view performance metrics and generate financial reports for most onchain interactions without having to manually track transaction data on a spreadsheet.

Imagine an open platform where anyone can build a protocol integration to get the data they need instead of jumping around to various services hoping there is support for their favorite dApp or protocol.

Need a balance statement of positions as of a certain date or even block? Or an income statement for the last month? Archive Protocol is designed to do exactly that.

We are building the critical infrastructure that will support users that are providing liquidity to Uniswap, lending and borrowing on Aave, staking with Lido, and any other Web3 protocol that has any yield or investment component.

That is the future Archive Protocol is building!

About Archive Protocol

Archive Protocol delivers comprehensive historical and near real-time user-level financial data for onchain positions, including ROI, income, APY, token balances, and more. Archive Protocol is a data-only layer designed to offer critical data infrastructure for tracking onchain yield in the multi-chain DeFi universe.

Archive Protocol will provide data for decentralized finance (DeFi) positions that are useful for reporting and risk analysis. We offer a consistent interface (unified data schema) across various protocols, including Automated Market Makers (AMMs), lending and borrowing platforms, staking protocols, yield farms, and more. We have designed a broad system that is meant to handle all types of activity happening on Web3 protocols.

What makes Archive Protocol stand out is the capability to handle complex onchain financial transactions, offering a comprehensive view of both current and historical financial metrics and ensuring users have accurate and timely insights into the performance of their onchain positions. While there are many portfolio trackers out there in the market, no one has solved the issue of historical positions and deriving profit and loss (P&L) transparently.

Web3 is expanding rapidly and new waves of users and institutions need accurate financial data to monitor and create reports for their on-chain activities. Our goal is to provide the best data solution for all types of users and situations.

For more details on what kind of data will be available and how our new APIs are structured, please visit our official documentation: https://docs.archiveprotocol.com/reference/data-structure.

What does this mean for APY.vision users?

Archive Protocol is created by the team behind APY.vision and in the future the Archive Protocol infrastructure will power the APY.vision service, which acts as a front end for the data to be visualized and aggregated. Due to the limited resources we have at the moment will need users to migrate over to the new Archive Protocol website temporarily. Then, the next step will be to feed all of the Archive Protocol data into APY Vision, which will act as a front end for the data.

With that in mind, starting mid-July 2024, we will temporarily redirect APY.vision users to Archive Protocol’s analytics page – https://explore.archiveprotocol.com/ which uses the new data infrastructure with the new enhanced capabilities. Once we are further along in our development, we will revamp APY.vision’s data infrastructure and reboot the application. We appreciate your patience while we migrate our data backend infrastructure.

What do VISION Pro users need to do?

While we are in the process of migrating, VISION token holders, VISION liquidity providers, and NFT subscribers will have access to the new Archive Protocol analytics interface via explore.archiveprotocol.com. A snapshot was taken on (June 15, 00:00 GMT) of our APY.vision Pro community and eligible addresses received an “OG Supporter NFT ” on Base. Users of this NFT will be able to access Archive Protocol for free while we migrate all of the data and update the website.

How can I get access to Archive Protocol’s APIs?

Archive Protocol has the capability to generate financial data for any Web3 user position, opening up endless possibilities for how this data can be used. The only limits are imagination and creativity.

This data can be utilized in various ways:

  • Developers can create embeddable widgets for websites.
  • dApps and protocols can enhance their websites with customized data displays or use our white-label analytics solution to quickly develop and launch their own analytics pages.
  • Institutions can produce financial reports such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets in formats like PDFs or CSVs for diverse reporting needs.
  • The data is also useful for calculating tax obligations accurately.
  • Additionally, the data can be integrated with AI to analyze the historical performance of user positions or to provide insights for future Web3 projects.

If you want to get access to the APIs, just fill out the API request form on archiveprotocol.com or email us at hello@archiveprotocol.com.
