Frequently Asked Questions

What is Archive Protocol?

Archive Protocol delivers comprehensive historical and near real-time user-level financial data for onchain positions, including ROI, income, APY, token balances, and more. Archive Protocol is a data-only layer designed to offer critical data infrastructure for tracking onchain yield in the multi-chain DeFi universe.

Archive Protocol will provide data for decentralized finance (DeFi) positions that are useful for reporting and risk analysis. We offer a consistent interface (unified data schema) across various protocols, including Automated Market Makers (AMMs), lending and borrowing platforms, staking protocols, yield farms, and more. We have designed a broad system to handle all types of activity on Web3 protocols.

What makes Archive Protocol stand out is the capability to handle complex onchain financial transactions, offering a comprehensive view of both current and historical financial metrics and ensuring users have accurate and timely insights into the performance of their onchain positions. While there are many portfolio trackers out there in the market, no one has solved the issue of historical positions and deriving profit and loss (P&L) transparently.

Web3 is expanding rapidly and new waves of users and institutions need accurate financial data to monitor and create reports for their on-chain activities. Our goal is to provide the best data solution for all types of users and situations.

What problems is Archive Protocol solving?

  • Lack of standardization of data across blockchains
  • Quality of financial data
  • Complications in parsing onchain financial data
  • Data accuracy and validity of user financial statements
  • Proliferation of historical blockchain data
  • Proliferation of Web3 protocols and blockchains

What kind of data is available via Archive Protocol?

Archive Protocol offers user-level financial data, helping Web3 users get accurate historical performance metrics on their positions, such as ROI, income, APY, token balances, and more.

Where can I learn more about Archive Protocol?

How are Archive protocol and APY.vision related?

Archive Protocol is created by the team behind APY.vision. Archive Protocol is a data-only protocol that provides extensive historical financial data in a standardized and scalable format while APY Vision is the front end to aggregate the data for users to review their portfolios in an easy-to-use summary. In the future, Archive Protocol’s APIs will power APY.vision’s data.

What happens to APY.vision?

Starting mid-July 2024 as an interim solution, APY.vision will redirect users to Archive Protocol’s analytics page (https://explore.archiveprotocol.com/) which uses the new data infrastructure. In the future, we will refactor APY.vision’s data infrastructure to use Archive Protocol’s APIs and relaunch an updated version of APY.vision. Archive Protocol’s analytics page only supports one protocol at a time (unlike APY.Vision) – we appreciate your patience while we migrate our data backend infrastructure.
